RE: How to save datawindow as pdf on windows 7 64 bit marineman (Programmer) 26 Jan 15 20:46 No I ran 64 bit gs906w64.exe in 64 bit environment and got an empty file.
Ldsds.Object.DataWindow.Printer = lsimp ldsds.Object.DataWindow.Export.PDF.Distill.CustomPostScript='Yes' lsret =ldsds.Modify('datawindow.Export.PDF.Method = '1') lsret =ldsds.Modify('datawindow.Export.PDF.xslfop.print=no') liret = ldsds.SaveAs('c: temp dconstitutionconstitue.pdf', PDF!, true). When you do this: lsret =ldsds.Modify('datawindow.Export.PDF.Method = '1') You're telling the datawindow to use the XSLFOP method.
You're basically overriding the following settings you made earlier: ldsds.Object.DataWindow.Export.PDF.Method = Distill! ldsds.Object.DataWindow.Printer = lsimp ldsds.Object.DataWindow.Export.PDF.Distill.CustomPostScript='Yes' And the nested format is not supported under XSLFOP. You have to use the Distiller method for those. Try commenting out or removing: lsret =ldsds.Modify('datawindow.Export.PDF.Method = '1') lsret =ldsds.Modify('datawindow.Export.PDF.xslfop.print=no') If you still doing get PDF, then your postscript and/or ghostscript configuration needs to be checked. I believe they also need a 'Sybase Datawindow PS' printer. How do I rollout the Sybase Datawindow PS printer? The users do not have Powerbuilder installed on their machines. They do need that printer driver. You should copy the entire folder C: Program Files Sybase Shared PowerBuilder drivers and install it in the same folder as your executable. The printer driver will be automatically installed the first time the user does a saveas PDF. Note that the user must.
PB 10.2, Win2K/XP Hi All We generate monster reports (5meg ish) that contain both images and formatted text (columnar). We've discovered that image size can affect things in the report (missing pics, etc) but we also have an issue where the formatting of the PDF file deteriorates near the end of the file. Format disappears, some text overwrites other, etc. I'm thinking we may need to update the PDF driver used for the saveas (Currently default Ghost, relatively current version.Forget which right now.) to something a little more robust, but not sure. Stephan GhostScript is required at this point, but no licensing fees are associated with it. We are generating special reports using nested datawindows in PB 10.
Is it possible to save this datawindow with all formatting in a PDF. In case this can be done, this will save us a lot of time and money, as we are scanning the PB generated report and mailing it to our customers. We have been able to save only simple reports in a PDF form. I wonder if the PDF functionality is available for complex reports in PB 10.5.
If not, future releases must certainly explore the possiblity of converting all reports to a PDF format, to facilitate easy exchange. Thanks in advance Hemalatha.
Hi All, I'm interested about saving DataWindow (Report) in PDF format. (It is regular datawindow created based on SQL Select with ODBC connection to DB2.) Do you have a good example about how to do this?
If yes, please provide me with information or suggestion. I'm using PB9.0, but I don't think that version is important. Thanks in advance, Anatoly Actually, the version is very important.
Starting in PB9.0 you are able to save your datawindows to PDF using the SaveAs datawindow method with the use of GhostScript. Search for GhostScript in the 'find'.
All, I am attempting to save a rich text datawindow without any success and no apparent errors. Here is the code: //dw1.SaveAs('T: CORPORAT ECLIENTS!LETTERS ' + COMPANY + '.PDF',PDF!, FALSE) messagebox('The Path Is:','C: ' + COMPANY + '.PDF') //dw1.SaveAs('C: ' + COMPANY + '.PDF',PDF!, FALSE) dw1.SaveAs('C: Documents and Settings Administrator My Documents!GT3 ImTrak!Let ters dwon e.pdf', PDF!, FALSE) I click on the command button with which the code is associated, but nothing seems to happen. I have tried opening windows explorer and clicking F5 button cannot find anything. Please help!! I tried saving the document as text (which worked) but I notice that it is not saving the text of my mail merged letter. It only saves the fields which is not what I would want even if I could save as PDF. When I print the document it works fine showing a perfectly formatted / merged letter.
Also, I found this in the documentation which seems to conflict with the SaveAs dialog box: Using GNU Ghostscript By default, when you select FileSave Rows As and select PDF as the file type, the data is printed to a PostScript file and automatically distilled to PDF using GNU Ghostscript.This option provides a robust solution that can save most types of DataWindow objects. Limitations The Ghostscript method currently does not support OLE and RichText DataWindow objects. The XSL-FO method currently does not support OLE, RichText, graph, and composite DataWindow objects. Well, I think I found just a ridiculous solution to the problem.
I installed Adobe Acrobat and am simply printing to the ACROBAT PDFWRITER. There were other printers out there (not sure where they came from) but printing to Sybase DataWindow PS did not work at all and printing to Acrobat Distiller ended up with the document being printed at about 1/100 of its normal size. Dw1.Object.DataWindow.Pri nt.CanUseD efaultPrin ter = 'NO' dw1.Object.DataWindow.Pri nt.Orienta tion = 1 dw1.Object.DataWindow.Pri nt.Printer Name = 'ACROBAT PDFWRITER' //dw1.Object.DataWindow.P rint.Print erName = 'Sybase DataWindow PS' //dw1.Object.DataWindow.P rint.Print erName = 'Acrobat Distiller' dw1.Object.DataWindow.Pri nt.Prompt = 'YES' dw1.print I don't consider this a real solution but I can use it until someone can hopefully point a better solution.
Integer li dw1.object.DataWindow.Exp ort.PDF.Me thod = Distill! Li = dw1.SaveAs('c: dw.pdf', PDF!, true ) works for Pb9.0.1 build 7171. Check a few things: 1.Acrobat Professional 6.0 with distiller installed 2. Is ghost script installed? Run gs705w32.exe to install Ghostscript on your system. Add the gs7.05 bin directory to your system PATH environment variable. The Adobe PostScript drivers used in this feature are installed in Sybase Shared PowerBuilder drivers'.
Create a folder say 'pdfdrivers' in the directory where the PB runtime DLLs are located, and copy the contents of 'Sybase Shared PowerBuilde r drivers' to the 'pdfdrivers' folder.
